Sci-Fi City: Attractions (Part 2)
20. E.T. Adventure
C-Ticket
Must be 34 in.
Help E.T. save his home planet in this flying dark ride. This brings the classic attraction back with new effects.
QUEUE:
Located down a small alley, guests will find the gate to the building, marked by the moon picture from the film. Guests then walk around through some gardens before going into the building itself. Here, they are greeted by a video of Steven Speilberg, who welcomes the guests and explains why they are there. E.T. has to get home to the Green Planet. The planet's life is fading away and only his healing touch can save it.
Then, guests move into the building, where it is supposed to look like they've entered the Redwoods. Guests eventually head to the loading area, where they board their flying bicycles. They climb on board and fasten their seatbelts.
RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The bikes start to fly and move through the forest. There, they pass by a research area, where a scientist reveals that E.T. is in the vehicle, hiding in the basket. The police come after them, but then E.T. makes the bikes go higher. From there, they fly over the city below, which gets smaller as it is supposed to feel like they are going higher. They recreate the moon scene before going to the Green Planet.
When landing on the planet, guests discover the decaying planet, where its life has faded. They pass by E.T.'s mentor, Botanicus, who tells E.T. what he has to do in order to save the planet. E.T. gets to work and heals the planet, and then he finds his friends. Guests go through a water scene and finds his buddy Tickli. He then passed through a cave and meets Magdol. Then, they pass by hills and meet with Ordibon. Finally, once the planet is restored, guests pass through a celebration, where they are greeted by E.T. himself. For some people, they might hear him say their names. They then fly again, passing a constellation recreating the touching hands from the film. From there, they enter the unloading area and get off the ride. After that, they walk out of the forest and go back to the front of the building.
11 - Transformers: The Ride 3-D
E-Ticket
Must be 40 in.
Take part in the greatest battle you'll ever ride as you help protect the AllSpark from the Decepticons.
QUEUE:
Guests go into the center of the city and see a giant Optimus Prime figure standing on a building. This is where the attraction is advertised. Here, guests approach the building and enter the ride building.
As they enter, guests come into a base for N.E.S.T. (Non-biological Extra-terrestrial Species Treaty), a military alliance between the humans and Autobots. As they go through, guests see several artifacts, including the AllSpark in a capsule, as well as several video screens. At first, it is N.E.S.T. staff welcoming them to the base, but as guests go further into the queue, the videos show that Megatron and his army is attacking the base. The Autobots assign the guests to take the AllSpark out before the Decepticons get it. They will be paired with an Autobot named Evac, who will be serving as their ride vehicle.
At the end of the queue, guests will receive a pair of 3-D glasses. From there, they will board Evac and strap themselves in, also placing on their glasses.
RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The ride moves through the base into the storage room to get the AllSpark. Unfortunately, a panther-like Decepticon named Ravage is there, smashing the capsule. After Bumblebee wards him and other Decepticons off, he gives Evac the AllSpark. After that, Evac leaves the base and enters the streets of Chicago. Here, Optimus Prime is dueling with Megatron. Evac is attacked by Grindor, but the Decepticon retreats after his arm is knocked off by a speeding train.
Evac then proceeds into a construction site, where Megatron attacks. Optimus holds him back, but Megatron fires a missile at the guests. They escape as it explodes. Evac then comes across Devastator, who sucks everything around him. They try to evade him, coming across many other dueling Autobots and Decepticons, but then coming back to him. To protect the guests, Evac puts on a shield as they are sucked in. After coming out of the other side, they are taken by Starscream, who smashes them through several buildings before crashing into an oil drum. Evac asks if the guests are okay before proceeding on.
As the vehicle moves around a construction site, they witness a battle between Optimus and Megatron. Starscream returns, but is chased off by N.E.S.T. helicopters. When Optimus is overpowered by Megatron, he orders Evac to protect the AllSpark. To help him, Evac charges at Megatron and puts the AllSpark into his chest. Megatron falls off the building, but he grabs Evac and pulls him and the guests down as well. Luckily, Bumblebee rescues them.
The vehicle moves and comes across Optimus, who congratulates the guests and Evac for their heroics and awards them the title of "freedom fighter." They then proceed back to base. On the way, they pass by a crashed Megatron, hanging from the ceiling.
POST-RIDE:
After getting off the ride, guests will dispose of their 3-D glasses and then continue into the Supply Vault, a gift shop after the ride.
12 - Men in Black: Alien Attack
E-Ticket
Must be 42 in.
Blast the scum of the galaxy in this shooter ride, where you can become one of the Men in Black.
QUEUE:
In the back of Sci-Fi City is a garden area with a Space Age-style design. here, guests go through the gardens, which advertise a world's fair attraction called "The Universe and You," which explores the possibility of life on other planets.
Once guests get into the building, they meet a tour guide, who then leaves them while a message plays. However, this message is interrupted and tells guests the news: this attraction is all a cover-up for Men in Black headquarters and they're new recruits for the agency. After that, they proceed into an elevator and head down the the headquarters, which recreate rooms from the films. Guests can have a tour of it if they ask before they get in the queue though. Rooms they pass through include the Immigration Room, locker rooms, a weapon armory, and more. They will also see signs that teach them how to score points. Soon enough, they will enter the load area and board their vehicles.
RIDE EXPERIENCE:
Shooting aliens will score points. The targets are located on the heads of the creatures, and a sound will play to show that you have hit something. Red dots also move around, thus, making them see where they're shooting. However, some aliens attack back and will make the vehicle spin.
Guests begin by going through a training course. They blast target aliens in levels one and two. However, before they can get to level three, Frank the Pug informs them that an alien prison ship has crashed in New York City and the prisoners are running amok.
The vehicles then enter an apocalyptic New York, where aliens are everywhere. As they go around the city, they shoot aliens, who are hiding all over (some in plain sight.) Then, they will pass under a bridge, where they turn to face another vehicle. There, it is revealed that the entire crew onboard are just aliens in disguise. Guests can shoot their exhaust pipes to make them spin.
Soon enough, they will go through Times Square, where Agent J will appear on a screen. He tells them how a giant bug is up ahead and how they ought to take care of it. When they encounter the giant alien, they are ordered to push the red button. They do this as they go under the alien and through a tunnel.
Inside the tunnel, guests will see how they did. All of their points will be rigged up and they will be rewarded with one of three titles. If they get "Bug Bait" or "Cosmically Average," a coach alien will appear and tell them to do better next time. If they get "Galactic Defender," then an alien will iron a tuxedo and tell them that they're officially new members of the MIB.
POST-RIDE:
After getting off the vehicles, guests can see pictures of them taken on the ride. Then, they will enter a gift shop, MIB Gear, which sells ride merchandise.
